【摘要】:1.1Thesepracticescoveradatasystemgeneratedfrom1955through1974.Itisinworld-wideuseasthelargestpubliclyavailabledatabase.Itisrecognizedthatitdoesnotrepresenttheoptimumwaytogenerateanewdatabasewiththemostmoderncomputerizedequipment.1.2Thesepracticesdescribeproceduresforidentificationofindividualchemicalsubstancesusinginfraredabsorptionspectroscopyandbandindexesofspectraldata.Useofabsorptionspectroscopyforqualitativeanalysishasbeendescribedbymany(),buttherapidmatchingofthespectrogramofasamplewithaspectraldataintheliteraturebyuseofabandindexsystemdesignedformachinesortingwascontributedbyKuentzel().ItisonKuentzel''ssystemthattheASTMindexesofabsorptionspectraldataarebased.1.3Useofthesepracticesrequires,inadditiontoarecordingspectrometerandaccesstopublishedreferencespectra,theencodeddataandsuitabledatahandlingequipment.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
